Our Southern Sweep

Oy, the humidity! We just got back from a week in the south! We went to visit some of my relatives and to spend some time at the family lake house in Alabama. This was Spencer's first trip down south, and since I lived in the south for several years growing up, I had a blast showing him the southern culture and introducing him to new foods and things.
We flew into Atlanta and met up with my mom, dad, J, and H. From there, we headed down to Lake Martin. Such fond memories of that place from my childhood. Ahh.
We had a wonderful time swimming, riding the waverunners, playing with the dogs, bobbing in the water just off the dock, taking a nice, long boat ride, visiting with the fam, and eating ourselves silly. Here we are on the dock down at the lake. It is such a beautiful place. Lake Martin has 734 miles of shoreline that is covered in lush, green forest.
Here's Spence on the pontoon boat.
Here is the view of the cabin, boathouse, and dock from the water. Such a wonderful place!
Here are the girls before our big long swim. Note my mom's crazy curly hair...it was rock awesome. There's no control in the humidity!
The boys on the boat.
After Lake Martin, we spent a few days in Atlanta visiting family. My cousin A just had a new baby in June, little J T, so we had a big dinner with the whole fam to meet the new baby.Me with little J T. He looks scared, but he really does like me.
We also went to the Georgia aquarium while we were there. It is supposedly the biggest aquarium in the world. It was amazing. Spence touched a stingray and I touched an anemone! We also saw penguins, sea otters, whale sharks, and tons of cute little fish.
And of course, a trip wouldn't be complete unless Spence got another temple, right?

Project Runway: Season 5

I am not sure how many of you have heard of Project Runway, but it a fashion designer reality show on Bravo. This season, my cousin, Keith Bryce is one of the 16 contestants. The first episode was last week. Check it out! Click on his name to go to the link.
The first episode, they were sent into a grocery store to get materials for their dress. I thought it was pretty interesting to see what the designers came up with. The other cool thing about the show is that you can bid for the dresses that the designers make on Bravo's website. My dad wanted to bid on Keith's dress just to have the dress as a souvenir.
Anyhow, thanks for letting me toot my family horn.

Asthmatic children breathe easy again

This past Saturday through Thursday I spent 24 hours a day at Camp Wyatt. It is an annual camp for kids, 8-12 years of age, who have asthma. I have been a counselor for the camp twice before, but now with my new job with the American Lung Association, I am ultimately responsible for making sure it goes smoothly.
I am so exhausted right now. I thought it was hard enough just being a counselor. Little did I know.
Do not get me wrong. I was not really all that stressed, but 6 consecutive 17 hour days inevitably wears on one's body. Needless to say, I now have a sore throat and sinus infection.
In the end, due to much work and preparation, the camp was a great success!
I look forward to next year's camp, but for now I have washed my hands of it. Thankfully, I have 2 months before the committee meets again for next summer's camp. Yeehaw!!

Last Week

We had a busy fun week last week. It was my family's annual "Ellimpics." Spence and I weren't able to compete due to conflicting work schedules, but we did participate in other festivities. We stayed in a condo at the Canyons in Park City with the fam. It was a blast.
Later in the week was the family Puglesie Cup up in North Ogden. Spence's team prevailed once again and took home the cup. Since Spence lives locally, he gets to hang on to the cup til the next showdown. Here are some pics from the game. Here's my muscle man. We were teasing him that his penny looked like a sports bra, so he decided to ham it up in front of the camera.

Both teams

We also spent the 4th of July in North Ogden at Cherry Days with my fam. It was great fun.
Here are my cute cousins Lauren and Ellie

Stephanie, Revealed

For those of you who don't read Steep's blog, you need to start. There's a link to your right. Go check it out.
For those of you who do read Steep's blog, you know she is a liberal, feminist MCB (Mormon Child Bride) who is so blessed. She is also the anti-housewife who has nothing to do with household duties and delegates the cooking and quilt-tying to her wonderful husband, Dan.
With that said, I just wanted to let everyone know that Steep called me yesterday. To get a recipe. For an apple dip. To take to a party. Anti-housewife? I don't think so. Closeted Stepford Wife? Perhaps.
